School’s Cross Country

Well done to the 31 boys and girls who took part in the cross country races held in Thurles Crokes field on Wednesday. We had a very successful and enjoyable day and were delighted to come home with 17 medals. The girls of 3rd and 4th were first off and set a very high standard by winning the team gold medal. In what was a terrific achievement we had the first 3 individual medals also. Clodagh Fallon was followed closely by Siobhan Price Carroll and Tasha Tully. Anna Ryan was 6th overall and Ciara 0 Connell and Zoe McKenna ran great races. In the boys race Shane Burke was 5th, Jack Ryan 11th and together with Liam McDonagh, Jack Morrissey, Simon McCarthy, Tom Maher, Lewis Kearney, Andrew Kavanagh and Sean Tunstall they won the bronze team medals. In 5th and 6th class Eimear Ryan ran a great race to win an individual silver medal. Jessica Hayes and Maria Lanigan also had fine performances. In the boys race Jack Fallon made it a family double by winning gold and led the team home to silver medals. James Dillon 8th, David Ryan 11th, PJ Tunstall 15th, Pat Hackett 17th, Bill Hackett, Sean Mockler, Conor Cummins, Declan Ryan, David O Donnell, Brian Long, Michael McCarthy and Michael Maher all ran superbly over the 1000m distance. Many thanks to Thurles Crokes for organising the event and to all the parents who supported the children throughout the day.
