Thursday 5th Feb. Mrs. J Doherty presenting a cheque for €800.00 to past pupil Sophie McCullagh raised for The Hope Foundation TY Immersion School Programme. Sophie travelled to Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) India, along with 70 other TY students from Ireland. The group assisted the Hope Projects, working in schools, orphanages and hospitals. The work involved assisting in the rescue of high-risk children from the streets and slums of Kolkata and providing them with basic nutrition, shelter, education and medical care. Each student had to raise the funding for the trip themselves. The total cost is €3,100.00 of which €2,300.00 goes directly for the work on the project with the remainder funding the trip.
