On Friday 12th May our boys soccer team travelled to Cork to play in the Munster FAI 5 a side competition. After progressing through two days of action in Newhill, where the boys won every game to claim the County title, this was a much more daunting proposition. We got off to an excellent start and defeated the Waterford champions 4 -1. However a poor performance and defeat to the Limerick team left us sweating on the result of the final group game. Luckily, the result favoured us and we turned our attention to the Cork champions in the semi final. Here we played our best football so far but despite leading 3 – 1, we could not hold out and lost out to a last minute goal. The Cork team duly won the final and can now look forward to a trip to the Aviva in June. Well done to the fantastic players and to all who made the journey to Cork to support the team.
