Once again Scoil Mochaomhóg Naofa, Two Mile Borris will participate in Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. Shoeboxes are due back by Wednesday 6th November. The leaflet was sent home with each child from school and there are spare leaflets available in the school. Team Hope are a totally independent, government recognized Irish Charity. It is Irish and it still works the same way each year, it is the same staff and all the same local teams running the project.
Filling your box is exactly the same as every other year. The items we would like in each box are listed below. Although the enclosed leaflet says items can be new or near new, we would ask that, where possible, all items are new, as your shoebox is the only present these little children get for the whole year. If you are including nearly new items, the rule of thumb to follow is “If it’s not good enough for my child, I don’t include it”.
As before ONE box per household is quite acceptable.
Once you have all your items, follow these easy steps to complete your box.
- Cover your shoebox in bright Christmas paper
- Fill your shoebox with items from the list overleaf
- Enclose at least €4 into the envelope attached to the leaflet.
*€4 is the cost of promotion and getting your box to the receiving child. Any funds left over will be used for the ongoing development work with the children, their families and communities).
- Send your shoebox into the school by WEDNESDAY 6TH November. (This will allow for checking prior to closing date). Close the box with a strong elastic band (don’t seal it with tape/string/ribbon).
From here your box will be sent to a child in an orphanage, a school, a hospital, to street kids or to the home of a poor family. You will help to make a child’s Christmas a very happy one!
This project highlights the true importance of Christmas. Children can see that giving a gift is as important at Christmas time as receiving one.
Thank you once again for your generous support.
