Last Thursday, 43 of our athletes competed in the county cross country championships in Thurles. On the day we had some excellent individual and team performances. Sophie Coughlan won her race for the fourth year in a row, Eoghan Clancy finished 3rd, Sean Sheehan 7th, James Danagher 8th and Aaron O Dwyer was 9th to claim individual medals. We also had silver team medals for the third/fourth boys and bronze medals for the fifth/sixth boys. We are very proud of all our athletes and we hope they continue to enjoy running as a worthwhile physical activity.
Under 13 football
Well done to our under 13 footballers who took part in a blitz in cashel last Friday. Unfortunately we didn’t qualify from the blitz as we were defeated by an excellent Ballylooby team and we wish them well in the next round. All our players, led by captain, Rory Heffernan, performed admirably on the day and had a terrific contest with Killenuale in the last match.
County Champions
Wednesday certainly was a busy day for the school and we were thrilled to come away from Semple Stadium as Roinn D under 13 county champions. Our team showed incredible skill and determination to overcome an excellent Kilruane team and captain David Costigan capped off a remarkable year by winning cross country, football, soccer and hurling county titles with the school. Great credit is due to Morgan Lanigan for all his hard work coaching classes during the year.
Primary Game
Huge congratulations to Tom, Lucy and Jack who represented the school in the Primary Game matches this year. It is a fantastic honor for the school to have had three sixth class students chosen for these matches. Well done.
Hurling County Final
Our Under 13 hurling final will take place in Semple Stadium tomorrow, Wednesday, at 4.30pm against CLoughjordan. All support greatly appreciated. Panel of players please meet under the old stand at 4.00pm. There will be a voluntary contribution bucket at the gate of the stadium and any money collected will help to pay for the expenses of the finals.
Hurling Blitz
Well done to Ms Walsh, Sandra and all of 1st and 2nd class who took part in a county blitz in Dr Morris Park on Wednesday. With the emphasis on participation and enjoyment the boys and girls were fantastic and represented our school with distinction.

Our under 13 hurling County final has been fixed for Wednesday 19th June at 4.30pm in Semple Stadium against Cloughjordan or New Inn.
5 a side soccer
30 boys from 4th, 5th and 6th classes had a great day out in Newhill on Friday last for the annual FAI soccer competition. We had 3 teams in action and they all performed brilliantly. Our A team have qualified for the next round and will be back in action in Newhill on the 8th May. Thanks to Mrs O Brien, Rena Ryan and Max Hackett for doing great work with the teams.
Primary Game Trials
Best of luck to Tom Ryan, Jack Hayes, Lucy Callanan and Victoria Cantwell who were chosen to represent the school in the upcoming Primary Game trials. We look forward to seeing them wear the blue and gold in the near future.
Active Assembly
At today’s Assembly, Mr Ryan surprised the children by introducing Active Assembly. Everyone assembled on yard and exercised for five minutes. David and Tom from 6th Class directed the children through five different exercises. It was great fun!
